Depression & Anxiety

Depression is more than just feeling down or having a bad day. When a sad mood lasts for a long time and interferes with normal, everyday functioning, you may be depressed. Symptoms of depression include:

  • Feeling sad or anxious often or all the time

  • Not wanting to do activities that used to be fun

  • Feeling irritable‚ easily frustrated‚ or restless

  • Having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep

  • Waking up too early or sleeping too much

  • Eating more or less than usual or having no appetite

  • Experiencing aches, pains, headaches, or stomach problems that do not improve with treatment

  • Having trouble concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions

  • Feeling tired‚ even after sleeping well

  • Feeling guilty, worthless, or helpless

  • Thinking about suicide or hurting yourself

Anxiety feels like a persistent, unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by physical symptoms and a sense of dread or unease about future events. It can manifest as physical sensations like a rapid heartbeat, sweating, and trembling, as well as mental distress like difficulty concentrating and feeling restless. People experiencing anxiety may also feel a sense of panic, impending danger, or a feeling of being on edge.

Trauma

Trauma is when we experience very stressful, frightening or distressing events that are difficult to cope with or out of our control. It could be one incident, or an ongoing event that happens over a long period of time. Most of us will experience an event in our lives that could be considered traumatic. Trauma is different for each individual. What may be traumatic to me, you might find trivial. However, each person’s experiences and their reactions to those experiences is valid and requires care.

Relationships

End Of Life Care

Relationship and family therapy focuses on understanding and improving interactions within relationships, whether they are romantic, family, or other significant connections. Addressing communication issues, conflict resolution, and other challenges that impact the well-being of individuals and relationships.

When our relationships are struggling, we can often feel we are failing. Finding peace and compromise with those we love can bring joy and comfort to each individual. Discovering why we interact in the ways that we do can lead to discovering a healthier interaction style.

Each of us approach death in our own way, bringing to this last experience our own uniqueness. Whether you are facing serious illness yourself or you have a family member that is, the complex emotions faced can be overwhelming. I can provide psychosocial support, care planning and advocacy, resources coordination, crisis intervention and bereavement support.
